Back From the Latino Comix Expo

As usual I had a great time at the 7th annual Latino Comics Expo! As always, I get to travel and table with my dear friend, Mario Hernandez. What can I say about my brother-from-another-mother? I always look forward to our drive down to Long Beach and then back to our homes in the bay as it's a constant laugh fest as well as several deep conversations from fatherhood to comics to relationships to current world affairs and so on. I truly cherish our friendship. People are SO used to seeing us together at the LCE that over the years we've been dubbed the Chicano version of the two old men in the balcony from the Muppet Show! ha ha!

I'd like to thank Ricardo Padilla and Javier Hernandez for all of the hard work they put into the LCE every year. I'd also like to thank the Padilla family (Rose & Sophia) for their tireless work and support of the expo and the "Chicago" Hernandez brothers, Bobby & Daniel for their work as well as all of these people help keep this expo running smooth.

Hanging with my dear friend and road dog, Mario Hernandez as he explains the finer points of cartooning history. In the background at the table next to us are Gilbert (Beto) and Jaime Hernandez. All three are the creators of the seminal comic book, Love & Rockets.

These two vatos are here every year and I always look forward to seeing them!

Mario & I arrived on Friday night and met his brother, Jaime for dinner. Jaime was staying in the same motel as us (the Chicano Shangri-La) and here he is in the picture above laughing at us when he saw the room we got.
